About Manual Lymph Drainage
Developed in the 1930s by Dr. Emil and Estrid Vodder in Europe, Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a gentle yet effective treatment designed to cleanse the body, particularly the connective tissue. It is the third most prescribed physical therapy in Europe and has extensive research backing its effectiveness in treating a variety of medical conditions. As a certified Dr. Vodder MLD/CDT therapist, Polly Jiacovelli has been practicing MLD for over thirty years, offering personalized care in a nurturing environment.
How MLD Works
MLD utilizes precise and rhythmic hand movements to stimulate the parasympathetic nervous system. This helps drain and detoxify body tissues, accelerates healing, enhances immune function, and alleviates pain.
Benefits of Manual Lymph Drainage
- Removes metabolic wastes, excess water, toxins, bacteria, and foreign substances from tissues
- Reduces pain signals to the brain
- Relaxes the sympathetic nervous system, relieving stress
- Enhances the immune system
- Accelerates healing from injuries, surgeries, chronic conditions, and edema
- Minimizes scar formation
